Abseiling
Note: You MUST be a fully paid club member to participate in any abseil activities with our club.
We have a small but active group of members who are keen canyoners and cavers. Our philosophy is that all participants on a trip should have the skills to complete the trip safely. This means we require all trip participants to have basic self-rescue skills. We hold regular practice days where more experienced club members instruct new abseilers in these skills.
To contact the abseil committee about abseil-related issues email [email protected] This address should be used to book onto practice days or for general enquiries regarding abseiling with our club.
Prior to being allowed to do any abseil trip with the club, a member must be able to satisfy a member of the abseil committee that they have the right skills. As well, the trip leader needs to be happy to take that member on the trip. This decision may be based on the mix of experienced and less experienced people in the group as well as the skills levels of each individual.
Note: We expect all new members who wish to abseil with the club to attend a practice day or make an alternate arrangement with a member of the abseil committee so that we can all check-out each other’s skills.
