For Emergency Contacts
Thank you for agreeing to be an emergency contact for one of our club trips. Members of the club's walks committee are available to support you and provide additional information to emergency services if needed, including the names and contact information for the people on the trip.
Where the activity is being held outside of an urban area, the trip leader should have sent you the plan for their activity (we call this the Trip Intentions), the time they are due out and contact phone numbers for members of the walks committee.
In the unlikely event that there is an overdue group or you are contacted after a PLB istriggered we ask that you follow the steps below.

Overdue Group
If you have not heard from the Leader by the agreed time, you should... Attempt to contact the Leader via their mobile (both voice and text). If no answer within 5 minutes then……. Contact the Police via 000 and report the group as overdue. The police call taker will require lots of information and the more we can provide the better. The leader should have provided you with Trip Intentions information which can be passed on to the emergency services. You should also pass on contact numbers for the walks committee members (which the trip leader will have provided to you) to the 000 operator. Members of the walks committee may have more information on the trip and will have access to a complete list of attendees and their emergency contacts. Once emergency services have been contacted, please contact a member of the walks committee and let them know what the situation is. They will be able to support you through this stressful time and will arrange for the emergency contacts of the overdue group to be contacted and given appropriate information. |
PLB is Triggered
If you are a nominated contact on the trip leader's PLB you will be called if the PLB is triggered. Answer the questions you are asked, using the information off the Trip Intentions which have been sent to you. You should also pass on contact numbers for the walks committee members (which the trip leader will have provided to you) to emergency services.
