Club Activities
The activities you can participate in with our club include...
Walks
Day Walks
Our day walks range from easy half day walks on track which are suitable for people new to bushwalking, through to longer walks of over 20 km, or off-track walks with extensive scrambling.
Guidance on what is involved is given in the walk description. We recommend that new walkers start off with walks of grade 1 or 2. Take a look at the explanation of walk grades to find out what walk grades mean.
Overnight Walks
Our overnight walks range from easy on-track weekend walks, to off-track and exploratory weekend walks and extended trips of a week or more.
We usually mention on the program if a trip is suitable for new walkers, however if you are not sure if an overnight walk is suitable for you please contact the walk leader. We recommend that you would have to be fit enough to do a day walk of grade 3 before attempting most overnight walks.
New to Walking?
We recommend you take a look at the resources for new walkers on the Getting Started pages published by Bushwalking NSW. Please make sure you wear joggers or hiking boots with good tread on the soles and take enough food and water (at least 1 litre) for the trip. Your walk leader will be able to tell you how much food and water is needed.
Abseiling
We have a small but active group of members who are keen canyoners and cavers. Our philosophy is that all participants on a trip should have the skills to complete the trip safely. This means we require all trip participants to have basic self-rescue skills. We hold regular practice days where more experienced club members instruct new abseilers in these skills.
Canyoning
The club has many keen canyoners, and the summer program usually contains a wide selection of canyons at varying degrees of difficulty. Our canyoning page contains a list of suggested gear to take when canyoning as well as a brief description of some canyon hazards.
If abseiling is involved in a canyon, your activity leader will need to make sure you have the appropriate skills before they will let you on the trip. To find out more please read the "Abseiling" page.
Caving
Caves visited by our club include Bungonia, Wee Jasper, Tuglow, Colong and Wyanbene. Our caving page contains a list of suggested gear to take when caving as well as a brief description of some cave hazards.
If abseiling is involved in a cave, your activity leader will need to make sure you have the appropriate skills before they will let you on the trip.
Social Activities
The club regularly holds a range of social activities, including restaurant nights, trivia, archery and car camping.
Other Activities
Cycling
Our club has many keen cyclists who either lead their own trips or organise groups of club members to participate in organised rides.
Kayaking & Canoeing
Most of our paddling is of easy grade on flat water. If you don't have a canoe of your own the activity leader may be able to arrange to borrow or hire canoes for participants.
