Being a Leader
We encourage members to lead trips once they feel confident enough. Leading trips and other activities is a great way of getting a group of people to come and keep you company while you are doing something you enjoy. Any financial member of the club is able to put activities on the program.
Leaders are responsible for planning the walk or other activity, organising the participants and managing the risks associated with the activity. Our leaders manage their activities and have the discretion to change or cancel their activity due to conditions. They can also decide how many participants to take and the skills and fitness requirements for those participants.
We ask our leaders to refer to the resources on our web site and contact members of the walks committee for advice and support when needed.
To get your walk or other activity on the next program simply respond to the email that is sent from the walks committee email address each quarter.
If you would like to organise an activity (other than a rope-related one) at short notice, email club's Google group list with a description of the activity.
Abseil and other rope-related activities can only be advertised as a short notice activity with prior approval of the abseil committee. Send your activity to a member of the abseil committee and they will let you know if it's OK prior to you sending the email to the club list.
These activities are covered by the club's insurance.
